Connie Youn

Fitness Instructor & Krav Maga Yellow Belt

Connie came to us in January of 2017 by a recommendation of a friend.  She says that she's always wanted to learn a martial art, self-defense, and be a bada$$. If you're here in the morning or mid-day classes, when she's here training, you know that she is doing all three! If you've every trained with Connie or even been on the mats with her, you also know that her smiles and positive energy are contagious.

Connie has been a dancer since she was little and says that her natural ability to pick up the movements and techniques in class comes from her dancing background. Her understanding of choreography and natural ability of moment has transferred well into her Krav Maga training. Outside of training at KMWH, Connie is a trainer herself. She's a coach and personal trainer focusing on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and is NSCA, CPT, and TRX certified. When I asked Connie about "food", her response was, "I LOVE FOOD. ALL FOOD. MEXICAN FOOD ALL DAY." She also loves cooking and open to trying all kinds of foods. Her favorite class is HeavyBag 60.  She loves punching, kicking, and flowing her strikes on the bag.  She says, "its cool to see what my body's instinct is when we burst into freeworking strikes on the bag."

Connie wants everyone to know that as hard as it is, do what you need to do to make yourself happy.  If you want your body to feel good, you need to eat well. If you're always feeling fatigued and sluggish, workout and get your heart rate up regularly. If you're not happy, find what makes you happy and do it!  Before coaching and helping others with their physical fitness, she was working a corporate job that she didn't like. She was working as a recruiter, helping other people find jobs. She says it was super ironic how her job was to help others find jobs in industries they wanted but yet she was unhappy in her own job. That's when she decided to do exactly what she's telling you to do - "do what makes you happy!" Connie says she loves this studio, she loves coming into the studio, she loves the people here, "its an amazing group of people."
